  Meet the Principal

Meet The Principal

Dear Parents, Guardians and Community,

There is a sense of excitement in the building as we get ready for the children to come back to school.  We feel lucky to have the chance to partner with each of you to educate your child.  The staff at McCleery is passionate about your child’s success and you can see their passion in their dedication to their work.

It is my personal belief that a solid education is the most precious and valuable gift that could be given to a child.  It insures an equal opportunity and equal access to a productive future.  I am honored to stand with you in providing that education.  Each day I come to work and am continually inspired by the tenacity of the educators at McCleery.  The staff helps each child grow, learn, and gain the skills they need to succeed.  Yet, we know that you are your child’s first and best teacher.

We are looking forward to sharing ideas and working together to make McCleery the best it can be. Each classroom sends one or more representatives to quarterly meetings of our parent council to talk about McCleery and how we are doing.  This is a great opportunity to get involved with the school and to know what is happening at school at a deeper level.  This is also a great way to have your opinion heard and make positive changes for your children.

Last year McCleery piloted the reading intervention model to be used for District 129.  We strived to meet students where they were in reading and provide differentiated instruction to help each student move to his or her own learning potential.  I was very excited by the results of this change and am looking forward to further refining it this school year.  Our target will continue to be having 90% of our students successfully reading at grade level by the end of third grade.

We, as a school, succeed only as a team.  Each contributes to what we are trying to accomplish.  Parents, teachers, assistants, secretaries, custodians, food service, and administration must work together for the children we serve.  A final goal I have for the school year would be to continue to develop a common purpose and a unity in our school.  As we listen to what you want your school to be, we can respond to the needs of your children and family in a better way. While I am very proud of the success we have had in the past, I know that we can make McCleery an even better place to learn as we talk and listen to each other.  Thank you for trusting us and sharing your greatest treasure, your child, with us!
