Deborah Meyers
Dear Washington Families,
It is a pleasure to welcome all returning and new families to the Home of the Generals. Washington has a long history of tradition and family support. We are proud of our many successes in the areas of academics, athletics and fine arts. I am truly honored and excited to begin my twelfth year as Washington’s principal.
I am fortunate to have a strong, dedicated staff to provide a positive learning environment for our students. We believe that through collaborative working relationships with the Washington community we can best meet the needs of each student.
During the 2009-2010 school year we will be reaching out to parents and our community to build a group of volunteers to work in classrooms as reading volunteers and also to provide mentoring for some of our students. The use of volunteers to provide these types of services will be a new focus for us.
Another area of focus for the 2009-2010 school year will be PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support) which is a systematic approach to preventing and responding to classroom and school discipline. We will be providing training for our staff and developing our plan of implementation during the first semester. You will be hearing more about it as the year progresses.
Our continued success depends on the support of our families and community. We look forward to building a collaborative relationship with you in order to best support our students.
If you have any questions or concerns about your student’s experience at Washington Middle School please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Sincerely,
Deborah Meyers, Principal
