West Aurora School District 129 includes North Aurora and portions of Aurora, Montgomery and Sugar Grove. The district serves a growing and diverse population from its urban, suburban and rural areas. The student population is 49% Hispanic, 32% Non-Hispanic Caucasian, 15% African-American, 3% Asian, .05% Native American, and 3% Multi-Racial.
The District houses 12,500 plus students in 10 elementary (K-5) schools and four (6-8) middle schools, one high school, one child development center and one special-education facility.
Guided by “Vision 129,” its comprehensive plan, the District
is undergoing a multi-year effort to improve student learning. The plan
focuses on four areas:
As part of this process, the District is exploring possibilities such
as early-childhood education, an enhanced gifted program, as well as additional
vocational courses. |
