Reunion Support
The Association now has two main resources to help reunion classes find and communicate with members -- a database containing contact information for approximately 9,000 alumni and this Web site. As a result, the Association can help class reunion organizers find and communicate with class members. This help includes providing mailing labels and allowing organizers to post information at the alumni site. The chair of the Reunion Support committee is Donna (Floit) Oleson ’61. She can be reached at 630-859-8935 or kenaimom@aol.com.
Membership
Everyone who graduated from, attended, or received a diploma from West Aurora High School is a member of the Alumni Association. In addition, every former and current staff member of West High is an associate member.
Any individual from the above two groups who has paid current annual or lifetime dues is an active member of the Association. Active members have a right to attend semi-annual meetings and are eligible for special discounts on Association events and sale items. In addition, active members have the right to vote on matters brought before the Association and vote for officers.
The Association encourages active memberships because the dues help fund Association activities. A single annual membership is $10; a Lifetime membership is $100; and an annual membership for a retired or current West High staff member is just $1.
The chair of the membership committee is Ralph Voris ‘63. He can be reached at 630-551-1952 or rlvoris@juno.com.
Special Events
The Special Events committee co-chairs, Stan Swanson ’53 and Stan Rayford ’91, are planning an all-class reunion for the fall of 2005. Another upcoming event is the Homecoming parade. Volunteers and ideas are needed and greatly appreciated. Swanson can be reached at 630-892-3838 or saswan3@aol.com. Rayford can be reached at 630-801-1024 or smrsportsagent@yahoo.com.
Finance
The Finance committee assists the association by raising money to fund Association efforts. Association sponsorships are one funding method. Businesses, corporations and reunion classes can become Association sponsors. All sponsors are noted in Association literature, the Web site and on Association event signs. Sponsorships begin at $100. The chairman of the Finance committee is William Foote '50. He can be reached at 897-8764 or wfoote@dreyerfoote.com. All contributions go through The Aurora Foundation and are tax deductible.
Public Relations
The Association communicates with members and the media through letters, e-mails, newsletters, brochures, press releases and the Web. Volunteers are needed to head up these efforts. Contact Mike Chapin, director of alumni relations, 630-301-5044 or mchapin@sd129.org for more information.
