RAISING ACHIEVEMENT AIM OF TEACHING PLAN

Recently the teaching and learning division of District 129 held three days of professional development for curriculum leaders, principals, and teachers from all schools.  These meetings are a part of a comprehensive district teaching and learning plan to focus learning and develop the use of local data to raise achievement of all students.

The district teaching and learning team is comprised of district administrators and teachers who are content area leaders at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Since January this group has been engaged in a process of identifying power standards, which will serve as areas of focus within the Illinois Learning Standards.  Principals and teams of teachers from each school learned about data teams as a format for facilitating productive, data-led professional dialogue about student achievement.
