ANNOUNCEMENTS
WELCOME TO THE 2009-2010
5TH AND 6TH GRADE BANDS!!
5TH GRADE: Don't forget what happens the first week after Thanksgiving Break.....
EARLY MORNING BAND
SMITH: Mondays, beginning November 30th, in the "Old" Band Room
FREEMAN/AU PARTNERSHIP: Wednesdays, beginning December 2nd, in the Freeman Gymnasium
Rehearsals begin promptly at 7:15, which means students should be in their seats with their instruments fully assembled by such time. Any students that could arrive around 7:00 to help set up chairs and stands would be highly appreciated.
By now, all students should know how to play five notes and numerous songs. Remember that everyone should be practicing 20-30 minutes daily. This is the most crucial year for developing skills on playing an instrument, so a consistent practice habit is a necessity. Be sure to use the CD's that came with the book to make practicing these longs tones more exciting. Do you have a friend in band? Get together and practice for fun. The more you play the instrument, the more your skills will improve.
ALL STUDENTS: GET A PENCIL IN THAT CASE!!!!!!!!
6TH GRADE: Remember that concert music must be passed by December 18th.
Are you practicing 20 minutes a day, five days a week? Imporvement and mastery will only happen when the instrument is consistently played throughout the week. Remember that all instruments and books/music should go home every day (otherwise, how can you practice properly?). Every student has more than enough materials to easily fill a 20-minute practice session. |
