Welcome to Goodwin School P.E. classes

RESPECT, RESPONSIBILTY, and THE RIGHT ATTITUDE

We are very busy here at Goodwin School everyday during P.E. class.  I believe that there are four components to a good P.E. class.  Every student should be involved (participation), feel challenged, have success, and enjoy themselves.

The Goodwin School P.E. program will still be doing many of the events that are traditional and have been done for years.  We will have Family Fun Night in November, the Student verses Teachers / Staff Volleyball game in December, Jump Rope for Heart, and our Field Day at the end of the year.

New this year is our Lunchtime Walking Club.  Everyday, at recess, the students are welcome to start walking.  I have mapped out an area for the students to walk.  Every time they pass me, I had them a popsicle stick.  When the bell rings they count up their sticks and mark down their total for the day.  I take care of the rest.

After the students have walked five miles, they receive the Golden Foot Award and a star!  Every five miles after that they will recieve another star to place on their golden foot.  All the classroom teachers have placed the awards in a special spot in their classrooms for all to see.

Our first destination is to walk to Disney World, which is 1198 miles from Goodwin School.  When we reach our destination we will have a celebration in the gym.  Every child who has walked at least five miles will be invitated to celebrate.  At that point,  we will all vote on our next destination.  Many students are very motivated and enthused to be walking in our club.

The After School Sports Program runs from September through May for the fourth and fifth grades.  Watch for information and permission slips coming home for all the different activities that are being offered on on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.

We are going to have a wonderful year!!!
