8th Grade LA1
7th Grade LA2
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! I am looking forward to another exciting year filled with many learning opportunities and challenges.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to 7th and 8th grade Language Arts. I am looking forward to the coming year. As a classroom teacher, I provide many varied learning opportunities for the students and strive to promote and encourage good study habits and strong character.
Each student was given a planner at registration and should consider this important "tool" part of the required materials for each class. Students will be required to use it regularly to write down assignments so they will know what books and materials they will need to take home in order to successfully complete assigned work. Homework completion is critical to students' success. Excessive zeros on homework will result in teacher detentions. We encourage you to establish a set study time each school day to be used for homework completion and/or independent reading. Even if there are not written assignments, this time allotment should be reserved daily for study, review, or reading. All students should be reading at least twenty minutes each day!
I consistently encourage students to be responsible for their own actions. This includes being:
· Polite and respectful
· Prompt and prepared
· Productive
· Positive
**Students are also expected to follow all school policies and expectations.
Responsibility also includes accepting consequences for unacceptable actions. Possible consequences for breaking any of the team rules include:
· Verbal warning
· Detention
· Note, phone calls or emails to parents
· Office referral
· Conference
· Removal from class (in extreme cases)
