time study

The discussion and study of time data is an important part of the Teaching and Learning Plan. After identifying the critical learnings for each curricular area (Priority Learning Targets) and grade level, we must examine the time needed to instruct our students in these curricular areas.

A decision regarding what the school day should look like begins with an understanding the current allocated academic learning time. This is the time which is provided in the school day for teaching and learning at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. The Time of Day by Building chart on this website is a study of the current allocated academic learning time in District 129. A multi-district comparison of the minutes allocated for instruction is also available on this website. In addition, we must also understand successful engaged time.

With successful engaged time all students are taught at their instructional level and are successfully and actively engaged in learning. As we continue to review and study time in our school day, we will also look at the time needed to deliver instruction to students in each curricular area in order to address the identified critical learnings and to extend other learning opportunities to our students.
