After officially canvassing the election results of April 5, the West Aurora School District 129 Board of Education certified the election of Jonathan Wood as a new school board member and Laurie Hoffman and Neal Ormond III as reelected members. All three took the Oath of Office at a special school board meeting on Tuesday, April 26. Wood replaces outgoing board member Warren Cannon. School Board President Richard Slocum commended Cannon for his years of service to the district and welcomed Wood as a new member. Wood has two daughters in the West Aurora school system, a daughter at Rosary High School and a pre-school aged daughter. He is a manager with Comcast Cable and has a degree from the University of Washington. Wood said he is excited about the opportunity to serve the community and hopes to be a part of continuing to raise the standards of education at all levels.
