Bullying is out at Lincoln Elementary School
and students are wearing special shirts to celebrate. On Thursday, April 7, the
school reached its 100th day without a bullying incident this school year.
Lincoln is in its third year of an anti-bullying program called Creating a
Peaceful School Learning Environment.
“We are proud to make it to 100 peaceful days at Lincoln,” says Principal Curtis
Hudson. “We have been working hard and the students are excellent.”

About 64 percent of the children at Lincoln come from economically disadvantaged
families. With funding from an Aurora Foundation grant, the school teaches
youngsters how to resolve conflicts by keeping feelings in check, reflecting,
talking out problems and, if necessary, seeking help from an adult, says
Gretchen Krembs-Rossiter, the Lincoln Peaceful Schools program coordinator.
“Our goal for the year was to make it to 100 days,” says Hudson. “Even though we
knew making 100 would be hard, we knew we could do it if we continued to
encourage students to show good character. As the students say NO BULLIES!”
The Lincoln PTO purchased t-shirts for everyone proudly proclaiming “100 Days of
Peace at Lincoln Elementary School.”
Lincoln School is at 641 S. Lake St., Aurora.
