AURORA FEMALE WEIGHTLIFTER TO ATTEND NORTHERN MICHIGAN

Alex Argueta, a senior at West Aurora High School, will continue her international weightlifting experience as a Northern Michigan University student.

Argueta, who recently placed fifth at the National Championships against all competitors, even Olympians, will go to school on scholarship and compete internationally (if she qualifies) for the United States.

For the past three years, Argueta has been competitively lifting weights with the Aurora Weightlifting Club, which is coached and operated by Thomas Kraus, a teacher and head strength coach at West Aurora High School. In that amount of time she has managed to improve enough to get accepted to the Olympic Education Program.

Last summer Argueta, who also has been a member of the West High pom squad, trained at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Co. and competed in the School-age Pan American Championships.
