and friends at the West Aurora High School Hall of Fame ceremony on Feb.
18 are Melinda Spearman ’90, who holds West’s career basketball scoring
record (both boys and girls); Paul Pridmore ’90, the first Blackhawk
state tennis champion; Jim Oros ’76, who was on three state-qualifying
teams in one year – golf, basketball and baseball; and Renee Dyche, who
was sitting in for her husband George, who coached West wrestlers from
1972-05 and is already in the Illinois and National Wrestling Halls of
Fame. Spearman, Pridmore, Oros and George Dyche were inducted into the
hall. Joining them were Carl Franco of the Blackhawk Sports Boosters,
tennis coach Brian Brooks, West Principal John Glimco and Supt. Jim
Rydland.
The induction of new members to
the West Aurora Sports Hall of Fame was an occasion for hall of fame
