Brad Troemel, a senior at West Aurora High School, won a week's scholarship to Ox-Bow, the summer retreat for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, by taking first place in the recent Fox Valley Art Associates Portfolio Competition. Work from more than 10 area high schools was entered in the competition. West High senior Bethany Way also represented West in the competition.

Troemel also has been awarded the Silas A. Rhodes four-year scholarship to attend the School of Visual Arts in New York, N.Y.
