HERGET STUDENTS VISIT CHINATOWN AS PART OF READING ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM

Herget Middle School sixth-graders Hector Arroyo, Marissa Diaz, Keneesha Keller, Samantha Gonet and Jill Huseman visit Chinatown last month as part of a reading enrichment program that provides real-world experiences of cultural sites and speakers to make the mental connections and form vivid mental images as they read in the classroom. Herget Middle School serves students from Aurora and North Aurora.

Enjoying Chinatown from Herget Middle School are Lijah Spears, Jihad Ray, Marlo Pidloan, teacher Kevin Kuhn, Aaron Thomas, Hector Arroyo, Jonathan Quezada and Alejandro Orozco. The visit Chinatown last month is part of a social studies/reading enrichment program that provides real-world experiences of cultural sites and speakers to make the mental connections and form vivid mental images as they read in the classroom. The program is funded by the Foundation for West Aurora Schools.
