Mike Smith (center), newly appointed Freeman School principal, receives
applause Monday, April 3 from Assistant Supt. Barb Vlasvich and Supt.
Jim Rydland. Smith’s appointment by the school board takes effect July
1. Smith is a 1995 graduate of West Aurora High School. He currently
serves as the assistant principal at Hill School and has both a
bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in
educational leadership from Aurora University.
