Students All Vote for Education, a West Aurora High School student group in support of the district referendum, is offering district residents an opportunity to make a truly informed decision before voting on the district operating rate increase – shadow a student for a day.

Residents who sign up can tag along with students 7:50-11:50 a.m. on Thursday, April 12; or 11:50 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday, April 13 at West High, 1201 W. New York St., Aurora.

“We are doing this so that the community will see the true West High,” says senior Kate Hunger.  “They will see the good and the bad and truly make an informed decision about the referendum after living a day in school.”

There are a limited number of students available for shadowing. Residents interested in shadowing should call the main office, 301-5600, by April 10. Participants will be required to submit to criminal background checks.

Dist. 129 is asking voters for an increase in its operating rate on the April 17 referendum ballot.
