Seven West Aurora High School Health Occupations students were state champions in the recent HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) contest. In all, 13 West Aurora students were national qualifiers (top 3 in the state) and 62 were state finalists (top 10 in the state).
Jeff Cordes was state champion, Dental Spelling. Gabi Bergmann, Brandon Rissman, Pilar Perez and Faye Rodriguez were the state champion team in Biomedical Debate; and Frank Herran and Ricky Zamora were state champions in CPR/First Aid.
Second in the state were Imani Ibrahim, Job Seeking Skills; Raki Kachanthong, Kendra Venson and Josh Belarmino, Community Awareness Project; and Andrea Sanchez, Prepared Speaking.
