BANK DONATES LIFE-SAVING DEFIBRILLATOR TO WASHINGTON SCHOOL

National City Bank’s West Aurora office has donated a life-saving defibrillator to Washington Middle School.

Principal Deb Meyers accepted the donation on May 9 from National City’s Kim Pearson, Galena Boulevard branch manager, and Mark Grossi, district sales representative. In all, National City has donated more than $100,000 of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to 45 schools, fire departments and other public community entities in the Chicago area.

A 2005 Illinois law requires indoor physical fitness facilities to have at least one automated external defibrillator (AED) on the facility premises. The school district has at least one AED in each of its 20 buildings, but is committed to placing more units in its larger buildings, according to Pete Kerl, Dist. 129 assistant superintendent for operations.
