SUPERINTENDENT TO RECOMMEND NEXT LINCOLN, NICHOLSON PRINCIPALS

Dist. 129 Supt. Jim Rydland is recommending that the Board of Education on June 4 appoint Michelle Gallo and Brett Burton as the next principals of Lincoln and Nicholson elementary schools.

The board is aware of Rydland’s proposed recommendations and supports the selections of Burton and Gallo. Both recommendations are the culmination of a selection process that involved a team of teachers, parents, staff and administrators.

Burton has served as an assistant principal at Jefferson Middle School this past year. Previously, he served as athletic director at Oswego East High School and as an assistant principal at Thompson Junior High School in Oswego. Burton has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a master’s in Teaching with Certification from Aurora University and a master’s in Education from Northern Illinois University. He is a West Aurora High School graduate.

At Nicholson, Burton would replace Shirley LeClere, who has taken a position outside the district.

Currently, Gallo is an assistant principal at Jane Addams Junior High School in Schaumburg. Prior to this position, she was an assistant principal at Prairie Oak Elementary School in Berwyn. Gallo was a special education teacher before becoming an administrator.

Gallo has a bachelor’s degree in Education from Illinois State University and a master’s in Educational Leadership from Aurora University. At Lincoln, Gallo would replace Curtis Hudson, who has taken a position outside the district.

On June 4, the board also is scheduled to consider the previously announced proposed recommendation of Lisa Polomsky to be the next principal of Hall Elementary School.
