Dave Zine will take over as the head coach of the West Aurora High School softball program, according to West Athletic Director Dan Bridges.

Zine, a teacher at West in the Freshman Academy, has coached softball for the Blackhawks since 1997. Prior to joining the West Aurora staff, Zine was an assistant coach at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, where the team won a National Championship in 1988. He replaces Donna Proctor, who recently retired as the head softball coach after 21 years.

“Dave’s experiences as a player and a coach are impressive. He brings with him a tremendous respect for the game of softball and knowledge of what it will take to continue the success West Aurora has enjoyed for the past several years,” Bridges said. “Dave has many great ideas on what it will take to our softball program to the next level.”
