As a coach, Joe Sustersic has the unique opportunity to foster his players’ emotional and physical development. He has defined and implemented a philosophy in his Aurora West program that has changed the way his players view themselves. More importantly, Joe has them believing, behaving and understanding that discipline, plus respect will equal success regardless of the result on the field. For Joe the greatest reward is not the outcome of winning, but rather the process of training and competition that positively affects the personal development of his young athletes. If it is the coach who frames the sport experience for the athlete, then Joe has assumed that responsibility and has communicated the importance of sportsmanship as its programs’ foundation. Joe is a coach with integrity, credibility and technical knowledge; qualities of a good coach who understands that the sport of soccer can be used as a vehicle towards learning life’s lessons.
