DIST. 129 SCHOOL BOARD PETITIONS AVAILABLE
Nominating petition forms for the April 17, 2007 school board election in School Dist. 129 are now available for circulation. Four seats on the seven-member board will be filled in the election.
Candidates can file nominating petitions with the school board secretary between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. from Jan. 29-Feb. 5 at the administration office, 80 S. River St., Aurora.
Petitions may be filed in person or mailed to: Randy Ochsenschlager, Secretary to the Board of Education, West Aurora School Dist. #129, PO Box 4430, Aurora, IL 60507. Petitions mailed must be received no earlier than Jan. 29 and no later than Feb. 5.
Position on the ballot is determined by time and receipt of petitions. Should more than one petition be filed at the same time, by mail or in person, at 8 a.m. on Jan. 29, a lottery to determine ballot order will be held at noon on Jan. 31.
Anyone interested in running for the board must be a registered voter, age 18 or older, and a resident of the district for at least one year. Petitions must be filed with a minimum of 50 signatures from qualified voters. The term of office is four years.
Also required to be submitted with the petitions is a statement of candidacy, which includes a request that the candidate’s name be placed on the official ballot, the candidate’s address, the office sought and a statement that the candidate is qualified for the office and has filed a statement of economic interest as required by the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act; and a receipt from the county clerk, dated after Jan. 1, 2007, showing that the candidate has filed the statement of economic interest.
Questions may be directed to Randy Ochsenschlager at 630-301-5033.
