FREEMAN, WEST HIGH RECEIVE INNOVATION AWARDS
Freeman Elementary School and West Aurora High School each have received $1,000 in Innovation Award Grants from Communities In Schools.
Freeman’s grant is for a program that utilizes parent volunteers to tutor students in reading. The award will cover the cost of books and other expenses.
West High’s program is to serve 18- to 21-year-old students with special needs by providing real-life transition services from high school academics to independent living through post high school education and vocational training. The award is to help defray the cost of supplies.
