HERGET STUDENT WINS CIVIC YOUTH AWARD

Cheyanna Strusz, a Herget Middle School student and North Aurora Leo Club leader, received a Ted Brattin Civic Youth Award Dec. 11 at the 37th annual Pearl Harbor Luncheon at Aurora University.

The award honors youths who display citizenship, service and leadership and is named after Brattin, a former Aurora businessman.

Strusz received recognition for volunteering at North Aurora Mother's Club activities and Breakfast with Santa. She also helped collect money for Lions Club Candy Days, took part in Fox River cleanup projects, participated in school-wide food drives and assisted at the Schneider Elementary School Fun Fair. North Aurora Lions sponsor the North Aurora Leo Club.
