At the Aug. 3 School Board meeting, Dist. 129 Supt. Jim Rydland will recommend the appointment of Amy Randall-Townes as assistant principal of Washington Middle School.
“The Board is aware of my proposed recommendation and supports her selection,” says Rydland.
Randall-Townes has been a student services specialist at Jewel Middle School since 2005. There she was in charge of student discipline, registration, record keeping and scheduling. In addition, she facilitated counseling sessions for individuals and groups in crisis or transition, supervised and evaluated staff members, assisted in the implementation of the gifted program and worked often with parents and community members.
Previously, Randall-Townes taught sixth grade at Jewel and Goodwin Elementary School.
She has a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University.
Deborah Meyers is principal of Washington. The previous assistant principal, Pete Clabough, is now acting principal of Smith Elementary School.
School Dist. 129 begins classes Aug. 19.
