Five current and former School Dist. 129 teachers will be among those recognized at the Aurora Hispanic Pioneers Breakfast, 7-9 a.m., Sept. 15, at Long Island Sound, 1920 E. New York St.
The purpose of the breakfast is to honor the achievements of the first Hispanic teachers in Aurora. The Dist. 129 teachers to be recognized are Anthony Barajas, Alejandro Benavides, Marilin Biles, Cristina Delgado and Lorenzo Flores.
There is no cost to attend the breakfast, but reservations are required. To make reservations, e-mail aurorapioneers@yahoo.com by noon Sept. 7.
Aurora Alderman Juany Garza and the 2009 Aurora Hispanic Pioneers Committee are sponsoring the event.
