West Aurora High School students and staff will host a car show beginning at 4:30 p.m., Sept. 22 on the south side of the school, 1201 W. New York St., Aurora.
The family-friendly Homecoming Week activity will also feature Oberweis ice cream sundaes for $2.50.
Cars will be entered in the following categories:
- Most Spirited: Exemplifies the West High Spirit;
- Sweetest: Exemplifies the car everyone wants to own;
- Sound System: Show off the woofers and tweeters;
- Most Thematic: Linked to the Cities of Lights is the Homecoming theme;
- Best Interior: The interior sparkles and is detailed to the max;
- Best Exterior: The outside of the car shines and brightens with the best.
- It’s a Wreck: It’s a wreck but it still runs;
- Most Original: Have a car that is different from everyone else’s?
After the car show (approximately 7 p.m.), the high school will show the movie “The Dark Knight” in the outdoor courtyard on the south side of the school. The “Car-less Drive-In” is open to the public with a $5-per-person admission. The ticket price includes a hot dog and beverage. Movie goers should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. If it rains, the movie will be shown inside.
