The Aurora City Council recently named two School Dist. 129 educators to the Aurora Hispanic Heritage Board.
Maria Lozano, director of English Language Learners, and Marsha Perez Green, a special education paraprofessional at West Aurora High School, will serve on the city-funded board that acts as a bridge between the Hispanic community and all other communities in the City of Aurora.
One upcoming event involving the schools is the Hispanic Heritage Board’s El Día De Los Niños, or Day of the Children, which this year will be from 1-5 p.m. April 28 in Aurora Transportation Center Parking Lot at the corner of Spring Street and Lincoln Avenue.
El Día de los Niños brings families, schools and communities together to uplift the children in the community.
This event includes food vendors, a variety of fun-filled and educational activities, including children's rides and booths, entertainers and main stage entertainment.
