Volunteers are needed for a free workshop on how to become a U.S. citizen that will be held from 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Jan. 19, at East Aurora High School, 779 Fifth Ave., Aurora.
Individuals will be provided with:
- free assistance to complete the application for naturalization;
- a determination on whether the applicant is eligible to apply for an application fee waiver;
- a free legal consultation with an immigration attorney; and
- free study materials to help prepare for the test and interview.

At the workshop, volunteers will assist applicants to complete the application for naturalization. All volunteers must attend a two-hour training prior to the workshop where they will learn the basics of citizenship and naturalization, the filing process, and how to complete the naturalization application.
A training session will be offered from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17 at Family Focus-Aurora, 550 Second Ave., Aurora.
Volunteer Attorneys are also needed. Training for attorneys will take place from 6-8 p.m., May 8, at Family Focus-Aurora, 550 Second Ave., Aurora. Attorneys will receive training on how to screen applicants, identify issues and determine eligibility for naturalization.
