West Aurora School District 129 is proud to announce that 21 West High students were selected to participate in the Illinois Music Education Association District IX Festival last month. Of those 21 students, 8 have been named as All-State Musicians and will be participating in the Illinois Music Education Association All-State Festival in January!
Over 12,000 students across the state auditioned in October for the opportunity to participate in one of the nine regional (district) festivals and for the opportunity to represent their district at the All-State festival held in Peoria in January, 2017. Through their audition efforts, these 21 students from West High were selected to be among the 175-member District IX band, 175-member District IX orchestra, 360-member District IX chorus, or 70-member District IX jazz bands. The 8 All-State students had to be ranked in the top 5-10% on their instrument or voice part to even be considered for All-State, which puts them in elite company state- and nation-wide.
Congratulations to all of these students, their families, and their teachers!
