  Kindergarten Info From Transportation

Dear Parent/Guardian of a Kindergartner Child,

We would like to welcome you and your child to West Aurora SD #129. We realize that this is a major step in your child’s life and also a major impact on the parents. It is our goal to insure a safe and enjoyable ride to school on the first day of school and everyday thereafter.

Safety on and off the bus starts at home with your assistance. We would ask that you take time to sit down and read to your child the safety information provided in the transportation website (Bus Conduct Expectations). We highly recommend that you place a name tag on your child’s backpack with their name, address, bus route, bus stop location and an emergency phone. In August, you will receive a letter from the transportation department explaining pickup and drop off times, route number, etc. for your kindergarten child.

As parents of kindergarten children, you have many things to prepare as your child gets ready for the school bus. In order to insure that all children get off to school safely and on time, please have your child ready for the scheduled AM or PM bus time five minutes before the bus arrives. This way, our driver can pickup your child and continue onward to picking up other children to assure that your child is at school on time.

The same rules apply when we are taking your child home from an AM kindergarten class. Please be ready at your door or in the driveway to watch/escort your child to the house. If you are not at home, the bus driver will drive your child back to their home school and you will have to pick them up at school. Please be at home when your child is to be dropped off.

Please remember to call transportation at 301-5620 if your child is sick and will not be riding the bus for that day.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. By working together, parents and bus drivers can insure that all of our children arrive to school safely for instructional training and are returned safely to your home.

Sincerely,

Mark Engen
