Deborah Meyers
Dear Washington Parents:
It is a pleasure to welcome all new and returning students, families and staff to Washington Middle School for the 2008-2009 school year. I am excited to begin the new school year to continue on our pathway of increased student achievement.
I am fortunate to have the support of a strong administrative team. Mr. Clabough, Assistant Principal, and I have been working as a team for eight years. Our two Deans, Mrs. Metz and Mrs. Orchard, bring a depth of experience in administration and counseling to the team. Together with the dedicated staff we are able to provide a positive learning environment for our students.
Our school improvement process will continue as we set goals to increase student achievement. We have met AYP (adequate yearly progress) for two consecutive years but as the bar continues to be raised we need to make every effort to keep up. Our goal is to make sure that each student has academic growth and improvement as they move through their three years in the middle school.
Success of our students depends on the school working as a partner with parents and the school community. Strong support from our families and community can have a great impact on what we accomplish. We will seek your input and support to improve the educational opportunities for our children. One way you can show your support as a parent is to become active in the Washington Parent-Teacher Organization.
Thanks you for all you do for your children. I look forward to working with you this next school year.
Sincerely,
Deborah Meyers
