Do not FEAR the word ‘CRISS’! Most likely, you are using CRISS strategies already; you just don’t realize that they are CRISS strategies. Any kind of table, chart, diagram, study technique, pre/during/post reading activity, etc. would fall into a CRISS category. It is a way for students to organize their thoughts and take ownership for their learning.
