Math Bowl is West Aurora's annual math competition for 4th and 5th graders.  All of district 129's eleven elementary schools are invited to attend each year. Our first math bowl was in 1993 and we have been going strong ever since.

It is an exciting event each year.  There are winners in the team and individual competitions for both grade levels.  On the individual level there are winners for each school as well.

 Math Bowl 2008

           The 15th annual Elementary Math Bowl for 4th and 5th graders took place at West Aurora High School, Tuesday, April 8, 2008.  Over 200 eager mathematicians came ready to problem solve.  The students participated in two events, a 30 minute individual contest of 20 questions followed by a 20 minute team contest of 20 questions.  Each school’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers were recognized at the awards ceremony.

            The overall individual winners for 4th grade were:  1st place, Megan Voris (Freeman), Jose Salgado (Lincoln), Nicole Tartagila (Schneider), 2nd place, Eric Haverkate (Fearn), Lauren Pangelinan (McCleery), Priya Baichoo (Schneider), Justin Brothers (Schneider), Tyler Kledzik (Schneider), Jovan Suvria (Schneider), 3rd place, Victoria Linner (McCleery).

            The individual winners for 5th grade included: 1st place Oscar Gaytan (Greenman), 2nd place Victor Figuerora (Greenman), Alyda Huerta (Schneider), 3rd place William Spooner (Fearn), Rachel Waltemire (Goodwin), Steban Martinez (McCleery), Miranda Gollwitzer (Schneider).

            The team winners for 4th grade:  1st Schneider, 2nd Goodwin, 3rd Greenman and Hall.

            The team winners for 5th grade:  1st Goodwin, 2nd Hall, 3rd Freeman.
