Review high school graduation requirements with your counselor

Register to take or retake the ACT/SAT if needed. See www.act.org for test dates and registration information.

Start thinking of teachers who can write you a recommendation letter if college requires it.

Sign up for college representative visits.

Plan visits to colleges and set up interviews or auditions if needed.

Narrow down your list of schools to include some challenges (perhaps above your reach), some realistic, and some safety colleges (most likely to admit you).

Make a file for each prospective school (noting important dates)

Begin to write your entrance essays when appropriate for specific schools.

Register with the NCAA Clearinghouse if you’re planning to play in NCAA sports and you didn’t sign up as a junior. See Mrs. Winslow in guidance for more information.

Begin researching scholarship options. Check the scholarship board in the guidance office as well as the guidance department website.

- Attend college fair at Waubonsee Community College on October 5th at 6pm.
- Attend Financial Aid Night on October 22nd at 7pm.
- If applying for Early Decision or Early Action, send in your application now. Remember, if you are accepted under the early decision option, you are expected to enroll at the college and withdraw all other applications.
- Request teacher and counselor recommendations if required by the school(s) you’re applying to. Provide them with a copy of your completed Teacher Recommendation Form or resume and allow 10 school days for the letter.
- Ask for help editing college essays.
- Visit selected schools if you haven’t done so already.
- Continue checking scholarship information.

- If you’re accepted for early decision, withdraw applications from other schools.
- Go online to the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) website at www.fafsa.edu.gov and create a PIN. Save it in a safe place. You cannot mail it in until after January 1st.

- Parents and students need to complete income taxes as soon as possible. You will need the figures to complete the FAFSA form. Keep copies of all forms!!!

- If you are going to WCC, sign up for a Registration and Planning (RAP) session to pick fall classes.
- Attend Senior Honors Night May 11th at 7pm.
