PROGRAMS AT WEST HIGH SCHOOL
Alternative Education (PLATO Lab)
For students currently enrolled seeking to earn credits to get back on track to graduate on time.
For 5th year seniors who are short of graduation credits.
Students work using the PLATO learning program to earn credit.
Locations and Times vary according to student need.
Students can sign up for this program via the Guidance Office. They should see their Counselor.

Regional Safe Schools Program
This program offered at West High is funded by the Kane County ROE (Regional Office of Education).
Students attend class Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
In addition students must do 10 hours per week of work in a job or community service setting.
The program has two options depending upon a student’s situation:
- GED Option- Students are withdrawn from West High. Register for GED Testing at the Kane County ROE. Upon completion of GED Testing student is finished with the program.
- Recovery Option- Student remains enrolled at West High. Student works toward earning regular credits. If student’s attendance and behavior improve, program staff may consider allowing student to return to their regular home school.

Quad County Urban League
Offers programs for students to earn either a GED or Credit Recovery

Waubonsee Community College
GED Testing program. Students register for testing at the Kane County ROE in Geneva.
Testing schedule available on the college’s website www.waubonsee.edu
Offers IL Constitution Testing – a requirement for earning a GED in Illinois.

East Aurora High School
East Aurora offers a Regional Safe Schools Program. Students have a GED or Credit Recovery Option. Meets from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for 3 hours of classroom time; 2 hours of community service if student is not employed.
