Dear School District 129 Families, (Español)

I hope this email finds you safe and well. The purpose of this communication is to update you regarding our return to the blended model.

I participate in weekly Kane County Health Department (KCHD) meetings, of which there was one yesterday and the next will be on Tuesday, December 1st. The KCHD continues to monitor a multitude of metrics such as the number of COVID-19 deaths, new cases, positive/probable test positivity, and ICU and non-ICU hospital bed availability, among many others. Following the December 1st meeting, I anticipate that we will make a decision in regards to the longevity of our adaptive pause. I intend to communicate that information with all of you shortly thereafter.

As we move closer to the first of several holidays, I would encourage all of us to do our very best to adhere to the health protocols to reduce the spread of COVID-19. I know that many are experiencing “caution fatigue,” however, it is critical that we remain diligent. We anticipate the availability of a vaccine for use in January or February.

I thank you for your patience, as well as the kindness and support shown to our teachers and staff members during these challenging times.
