Mitigation Measures

Español

Dear School District 129 Families and Staff,

Effective tomorrow, March 1st, School District 129 will no longer require the wearing of masks on school buses, athletic vans, and driver education cars. The reason for this change is that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have stated:

“Effective February 25, 2022, CDC is exercising its enforcement discretion to not require that people wear masks on buses or vans operated by public or private school systems, including early care and education/child care programs. CDC is making this change to align with updated guidance that no longer recommends universal indoor mask-wearing in K-12 and early education settings in areas with a low or medium COVID-19 Community Level.”

As COVID-19 metrics in our District and across Kane County continue to improve, you can expect adjustments in our mitigation strategies over time. With this new language, universal masking is no longer strongly recommended indoors, but remains an option for students, staff, and visitors. School District 129 will continue to offer KN95/surgical masks for those who request them.
