Kindergarten Registration

All students who reside in West Aurora School District 129 that will be age 5 on or before September 1 of the current year are eligible to enroll in kindergarten.

Some returning families qualify for automatic registration renewal for the 2026–27 school year. Families who qualify do not need to take any action.

Families who are new to the district or need to confirm their residency will find their required registration steps outlined below.

New-to-District Kindergarten Students

The steps below will get you started on the registration process. Be prepared to submit the following documents by uploading them to the application. Applications will not be accepted until all necessary documents have been provided. Once the online application and document uploads are received by the district, you will be contacted by email stating the registration has been completed.

Students of families who complete this process by May 1st will be able to attend their *home school and receive FREE registration. Please note: Once enrolled, a student’s school placement may change based on language assessments or special education programming needs.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Student’s original birth certificate (uploaded copy)
Parent’s/Guardian’s valid drivers license/state identification card
Proof of Residency
- One of the Following:
  - Current Mortgage Statement
  - Current Lease
  - Current Real Estate Tax Bill
- Two of the following current utility statements (from within 60 days)
  - Waste
  - Water
  - Phone
  - Gas
  - Electric
  - Cable/Internet
Immunization records
Illinois State Transfer Form (if transferring from another Illinois public school)
Current I.E.P. or Section 504 Plan

Returning Families With Kindergarten Students

Families who do not qualify for auto-renewal will receive a text message and email in early February, requesting updated proofs of residency to complete registration for their child(ren).

REQUIRED PROOFS OF RESIDENCY

Please submit three (3) total documents:

One (1) of the following:

Current mortgage statement
Current lease agreement
Current real estate tax bill

Two (2) current utility statements (dated within the last 60 days):

Cable or internet
Electric
Gas
Phone
Water
Waste
