GOODWIN McTeacher Night
Tammie Babbitt

What a great turn out for supporting Goodwin Elementary School.

Teachers from Aurora West Unit School District 129, volunteered behind the counter on Thursday, October 17, at the North Aurora McDonald's located on Hansen Blvd, where they served students and their families in a fundraiser for Goodwin Elementary School.

Mrs. Jennifer Moe, Goodwin Elementary Music Teacher, tended the apple pie box during the night alongside, Administrative Assistant, Brenda English who did an outstanding job selling pies to customers throughout the night.

The proceeds from the sale of pies went directly to benefit the schools PTO as well as fifteen percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher's Night sales.

They have raised a total of $833.89. What an amazing accomplishment! Thank you everyone who participated in this fun night out!

Parents as Teachers (PAT)

Representatives from West Aurora’s “Parents as Teachers” (PAT) program traveled to St. Louis to participate in and to be honored at the PAT International Conference!

West Aurora’s PAT program received Blue Ribbon status, one of only 23 Blue Ribbons awarded in the state of Illinois. In order to obtain this status, the program must meet all of the essential requirements and at least 80% of the quality standards. West Aurora achieved 94% of these quality standards.

Also at the conference, the Early Learning Academy’s Assistant Principal, Ms. Kelly Person, presented a professional development session to an audience of over 100 educators focused on Strategies and Developing Advocacy Skills for Parents of Children with Special Needs.

Congratulations Parents as Teachers!
