In Illinois, public education is the state's constitutional responsibility. The state delegates to the local school board the authority to govern its district within the parameters set by law.
Voters in our district elect Board of Education members to serve four-year terms. The duties of the Board include, adopting financial information, approving all expenditures, establishing district policy, authorizing employment, setting school boundaries, approving textbooks, courses of study, and developing new, innovative, academic initiatives.
Regular meetings of the Board are generally held on the first and third Mondays of each month at West Aurora High School, 1201 West New York Street, Aurora, Illinois, 60506. Check the calendar on the website for updated information.
Individuals wishing to address the Board on an agenda and/or non-agenda item are asked to complete a Public Comment Card, available at the meeting.. Please present the completed comment card to the board secretary, or designee, at least 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the meeting.
