The 21st Century MyTime program will not operate on half-days, non-attendance days, school holidays, and emergency school closing days. The program operates during the schoolyear for a minimum of 28 weeks and summer programming is also provided through the 21st Century Grant. The program will provide daily snacks as well as materials for academic and enrichment activities.
The program is offered to students in K-5. Students will be recruited by school staff and administration based on the State and School Assessments and quarterly grades. Students are encouraged to be retained in the program yearly until improved academic performance. The 21st Century Community Learning Centers program is authorized under Title IV, Part B, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. The purpose of this important program is to create community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools, to meet State and local student standards in core academic subjects, to offer students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs, and to offer literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.
