EPIC! Fox Valley Park District
EPIC! after-school program is designed to give students the opportunity to explore, play, imagine, and connect after school. This program is available at Smith, Schneider, Nicholson, and Hall Elementary Schools for Kindergarten through 5th grade.
General Information
- Students will participate in games, crafts, enrichment opportunities, and dedicated homework time.
- An afternoon snack is provided for students.
- EPIC follows the school calendar for District 129 and is closed on half days, school holidays, non-attendance days, parent teacher conferences and emergency school closings.
- West Aurora School District 129 After School Bus (4:30 p.m.) is available for students in grades 1-5 that attend Smith, Schneider, and Nicholson Elementary. The after school bus is not available at Hall Elementary School.
- In an effort to ensure student safety of our youngest students, kindergarteners are not eligible to receive evening transportation. We ask that parents or guardians pick them up directly from the program location which concludes daily at 5:30 P.M.
- Child to staff ratio at 10:1
- All Staff are CPR, AED & First Aid Certified, and screened: State Background Check, Sex Offender Registry Check, and Address and Social Security Verification.
Registration
- Families can register in person at all Fox Valley Park District Community Centers or online HERE through August 5, 2025.
- Beginning August 6, 2025, participants will be placed on a waitlist. If space becomes available, families will be contacted to complete the registration process.

Access Fee
- We strive to make the EPIC After-School Program accessible to every child, regardless of economic, physical, or social barriers.
- EPIC offers a fee structure that includes the ACCESS Monthly Rate, a reduced-cost option for qualifying families.
- To qualify for review students must live in the Fox Valley Park District area, attend one of the participating schools, and have one of the following: WIC, SNAP, Section 8, CCAP, Foster Care/Guardianship, TANF,EI/IEP/504, or Medicaid/All Kids.

Boys & Girls Club
The Boys & Girls Club of North Central Illinois offers after-school services to Fearn, Freeman, Greenman, Goodwin, Hill, and McCleery elementary schools, in addition to Herget Middle School. At the Club, we aim for each youth member to have fun in a safe environment, while fostering supportive relationships with staff and peers, exposing youth to unique program opportunities, and recognizing members for their efforts and accomplishments.
The Basics:

Our program features a low-to-no cost membership free structure, providing sliding scale fees to ensure that all students interested in participating are able to join. Approximately 80% of families are eligible to participate in our programs for free.

Elementary programs at Fearn, Freeman Greenman, Goodwin, Hill, and McCleery are offered daily from dismissal until 6:00pm, Monday through Friday, on full days, when school is in session.

Close-to-home evening transportation is provided for 1st through 5th grade students at 4:30pm.

In an effort to ensure student safety of our youngest students, kindergarteners are not eligible to receive evening transportation. Instead, we kindly ask that parents or guardians pick them up directly from our Club location. Our program concludes daily at 6:00 P.M., providing ample time for caregivers to arrive and collect their children.

Herget Middle School's program is offered on Fridays from dismissal until 6:00pm.

Close-to-home evening transportation is provided for Herget Middle School students at 5:15pm.

A 1:15 staff-to-student ratio is maintained to ensure that members get the support and attention needed from our team of youth development professionals.

Nutritious snacks are provided daily after school.
What We Offer:

Academic Enrichment – Students receive assistance with their daily homework assignments, in addition to hands-on learning activities that promote literacy and STEM.

Social Emotional & Community Building Activities – Our students participate in positive community activities that develop social skills and relationship building.

Sports & Recreation - Activities will build self-esteem, positive communication skills and promote physical fitness, leadership skills and working as a team.

The Arts – Visual arts, crafts, and performing arts help promote creativity and self-expression.

Extras – In partnership with local businesses, students have the opportunity to participate in field trips and engage with leaders in the community.
HOW TO JOIN

- All elementary families must complete a Membership Fee Determination Form as a second step to the application process. Low to no cost program.
- Completed applications will receive a confirmation email with the child’s start date, or indication if the child is on a waitlist.
