Over 400 West High Students Achieved 4.0 or Higher 1st Semester

On Monday, February 13, 2017, over 400 West Aurora High School students were recognized for achieving a 4.0 or higher grade point average (GPA) for the first semester of school.

44 senior students were recognized for achieving a 4.0 GPA or higher for seven consecutive semesters.

Students and families were invited for breakfast and to listen to a message from the school’s principal, Dr. Charles Hiscock, and the morning’s keynote speaker.

The keynote speaker was Nate Eimer, West High teacher, head football coach, and graduate of West Aurora High School. Eimer spoke to the students on ways to “being great day in and day out” and chasing their dreams. Through his experience, he shared his 4 principles on how he lives his life. They were:

1.    Control what you can control.

2.    There is no substitute for hard work.

3.    You win with good people. Surround yourself with great people.

4.    Have a day by day attitude. “Be there everyday, be on time and always be ready to compete.”
